Lenses with X-Shutter

The X-Shutter is a modern leaf shutter built around Phase One’s IQ4 platform.

Electronic control from the back streamlines shooting and records key lens data for a clean workflow.

The X-Shutter replaced the mechanical Copal 0 shutter and is purpose-designed for IQ4 backs.

Using the X-Shutter prevents rolling shutter effects that may occur with electronic shutters and offers full flash compatibility with a synchronization of up to 1/1000th sec.

Lenses in Aperture Unit

Lenses in aperture unit deliver pure optical performance with a beautifully round 9-blade diaphragm.

These lenses can be paired with all digital backs that offer an electronic shutter, such as the PhaseONE IQ4 and the Hasselblad CFV100 C.

Other legacy backs may also offer electronic shutters.

Ideal when you want minimal mechanics and maximum image quality.

Legacy Lenses with Copal 0 Shutter

Copal is a legendary mechanical leaf shutter that defined an era of large- and medium-format photography.

Production was ended in 2016 and the last stock was sold until 2019.

Lenses with Copal 0 shutters still circulate on the secondary market and are valued for use with analog and also digital backs.

Although we do not offer Copal shutter lenses anymore, we do our best to support with contacts for maintenance and repair.

All ALPA lenses now come in Short Barrel configuration as standard.
